Gum recession is a dental issue in which gum tissue recedes and exposes more of the tooth than normal. This can cause tooth sensitivity and, in some extreme cases, can leave the tooth’s root open and vulnerable. There are many causes for gum recession, from periodontal disease to poor oral hygiene. Gum tissue grafts are a way to replace missing gum tissue to restore the look and feel of your natural smile.

Mikhail Gomer, DMD Performs Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique at MGS Dental
The Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique (PST®), invented and patented by John Chao, D.D.S., is a scalpel-free, suture-free procedure for treating gum recession.
This comfortable, seamless procedure is performed by first creating a small hole in the gum tissue using a needle. Using special dental instruments, the soft gum tissue is them loosened and guided to fit over the receded section of the tooth. Because there are no incisions or sutures involved, patients can expect little to no side effects or symptoms (pain, swelling, and bleeding) following the procedure. Most of our patients are pleasantly surprised by the immediate results!
