Dental Crowns & Bridges

Crown

A crown is a restoration that covers, or caps, a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size. Its purpose is to strengthen or improve the appearance of a tooth
Crowns can:

  • Restore teeth when there isn’t enough tooth remaining to provide support for large fillings
  • Protect week teeth from fracturing
  • Attach bridges
  • Restore fractured teeth
  • Cover badly shaped and discolored teeth
  • Cover dental implants

Placement of the crown is a precision procedure. Several steps are involved, and at least two dental visits usually necessary for completion. Dr. Mike or Svetlana will prepare the tooth by removing its outer portion to accommodate the sickness of the crown. An impression is then taken to provide an exact model of the prepared tooth. The dental technician then make the crown from the model.

Temporary crowns are placed while permanent one is made. When the permanent crown is finished, the dentist puts it in place and makes necessary adjustments. Finally crown will be cemented in place with permanent cement.

Bridges are two or more crowns connected together to replace one ore more missing teeth. Bridge also known as a fixed partial denture. Fixed bridge is permanently cemented to the teeth and cannot be taken out from the mouth.
